As I sit a by the fire ( for ambiance definitely not needed for warmth–boy, was it a beautiful day), I realize that we at Sportable have much to give thanks for this year. I can remember that this time last year–the future of the organization was a bit more uncertain–as we struggled to gain local support of our 12 sport programs.
Just a year later–we are able to boast strong relationships with our community partners that have not only helped to provide adaptive sports programs to our athletes but who have supported us in taking many programs to the next level in 2012–increasing their in-kind support or providing additional funding.
We are grateful for the efforts and expertise of our staff members whose shared passion keep things running smoothly day after day.
We appreciate greatly the numerous hours that our volunteers commit to aid our staff and coaches in providing the best quality programs to our athletes–whether it be our youth volunteers who serve as ball kids at tennis practice or those that donate their weekends and/or evenings to lug kayak equipment…maybe even drive our van overloaded with sports chairs—-we could not do it without you!!!
A special thanks to our coaches–you are each instrumental in empowering our athletes to see beyond their disabilities–focusing on each individuals ABILITIES versus their limitations!!
We have been so fortunate to gain the local communities support going into 2012–whether it be foundations, private donations, in kind consultations…you have all been instrumental in bring our brand to life and breaking down barriers for individuals with physical disabilities who deserve an opportunity to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
And last but certainly not least, I personally am thankful for those members of our Board of Directors that have believed in Sportable from its inception and who have bought into the vision and most importantly bring our mission to life in the Greater Richmond Community.
THANK YOU to the Sportable Team–each member plays an essential role in moving us forward into 2012. In closing, I share with you a favorite quote to live by today–and everyday!!
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
